Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
1988
James Signorelli

I enjoyed many things about this movie.  I do enjoy seeing the ever so lovely Elvira anyway but the T-Bird, the poodle and of course the house.
The story was strong enough to keep even the impatient creeper like me interested until the end, so that's great.  Not filled with effects or even over the top jokes, the movie did carry a somewhat easy-going light-hearted feeling about it, almost like the Pee-Wee Herman movie.  I do have to say though that I personally preferred Elvira's Haunted Hill's than this particular movie, but I do like some specific details about Mistress of the Dark, such as the fact that Elvira's aunt’s house is also the very same house used in The Munsters; the character of Vincent Talbot was named as a homage to actors Vincent Price and Lyle Talbot and finally the town square of Falwell is also the very familiar town sq in Back to the Future. This movie is well worth the 1 hour and 35 minutes it takes to watch it.
With a Budget of $7.5 million compared to Elvira's Haunted Hill of just $1.5 million I really can't see where all that cash made the difference.
Of course times change but to be honest sticking to Elvira's modest budget as per her shows I would still have loved this movie.

Buy it, borrow it hell you gotta see it!  Fun for everyone!
